Good simple animation and a good simple articulation of the meaning of ‘liberty’.

This clip works on the assumption that we are free to choose, but we are not. We are forced to be wage slaves for the 1%, and whilst that is the case any discussion of liberty falters right from the beginning.

At the same time the clip presents the government as the problem, the implication being that the government are controlling us. The question is who controls the government? The 1%. Those that employ us choose what we work for and they use the government to enforce that set of choices.

If you want liberty remove the 1% and bring back genuine choice. until that is done discussion of liberty is a con game, a game that is often played by those who want to deregulate so that even further power goes to the 1%.

Philosophy grows from the prevailing power, the power enables the ideas that become the contemporary ideological currency. The current libertarian agenda is fuelled politically by those who seek further deregulation, and deregulation is what has caused the current economic crisis.

the problem with idealism without insight is that it loses context and does not perceive the manipulation.

I agree with you about the current libertarian agenda. You may be interested in the discussion at: http://tarpley.net/2012/02/27/reactionary-republicans-and-wall-street-democrats-spell-doom-for-usa/.

I like the video as a presentation and a ‘thought provoker’ but agree that all abstractions need to be contextualised.
